SHERRI SACCONAGHI
My Story
I am fiercely determined to share my story in hopes of connecting with and supporting other women who have traveled, or are currently traveling the bumpy, twisting, slippery road of an eating disorder.
Married to a rock and roll Insurance agent and the mom of two teenaged boys, I struggled with anorexia for over twelve years, the onset occurring in my mid thirties. Working diligently to be the perfect wife, mom, and business owner, living with an eating disorder took its toll on not only me but my whole family. For years I lived with the shame of having a disease that I believed belonged to teenagers in an after school special, not someone like me.
From the serious (heart palpitations and trips to the ER) to the humorous (a secret addiction to Tootsie Rolls), I am now rooted enough in recovery, to shed light on my struggle as an adult with an eating disorder. I know I am not alone. Neither are you.
I dedicate this blog to my mom, Sandra who always encouraged me to follow my passion for writing. She passed away unexpectedly in 2016, three months before I went into treatment but I have no doubt she has been beside me every step of the way of my recovery journey.
